Easton PA - 2/25/2017 - quick trip

Benjy
I drove to Easton PA to see Shalom Neuman and drop off a few photos for his Unbearables wall at the International Fusionism Museum on North Fourth St. in Easton.

It was a surprising day, perhaps even frighteningly mild and pleasant for a day in February. We sat on the front stoop of the gallery, talking with each other and with people passing by. I shot a few photos. Two artists stopped by to drop off one of them's paintings for the next group show, which opens on Wednesday this week.

Shalom and I took a walk to the Easton Public Market. It's a food court with lots of interesting stands selling locally made things. I had a crepe, Shalom a Korean noodle soup. I helped two little kids learn how to make a silly putty ball. They were visiting with their parents from Long Island City and spent some time in the Crayola exhibit across the street.

Rebecca, the woman who took my order at the creperie was not only very pleasant and easy to talk to, she also caters, cleans and does publicity, so if you find yourself in need of such services, head over to the Full of Crepe stand. She's not from Easton, so if you speak with her, don't make that mistake. She's from Bethlehem.

Michelle Neifert, the artist and very helpful person who walked me through the IF show two weeks ago, was at the gallery when Shalom and I got back, being helpful by pulling out those pieces not yet picked up by her fellows, and loading them in her car to bring back to their rightful owners. How helpful is that?

Anyway, I think I've put up too many photos but what the hell, they are nice ones. I could've said more but I think I've written enough.

IF (International Fusionism) Art Show - Shalom Neuman - Easton PA - Part the Last (7)

The last posting. Ta-da.

Which isn't to say I don't have more pix, because I do. But I figure I've been at this for more than a week and if you aren't bored, you ought to be.

Anyway, I'm done. It was a great show, a great opening, I met lots of great folk and I will be going back in the near future.

I'm going to go through my archive of photos of The Unbearables, selecting them for Shalom to hang on a wall in the gallery.  I hope it is not a bearing wall, for if it is how will it support all those unbearbable writers, artists and musicians?

I don't know the names of many of the people in theve pix. If you happen to know them, a comment with the name would be much appreciated.

IF (International Fusionism) Art Show - Shalom Neuman - Easton PA - Part the Penultimate (6)

Melissa Meyer
This is going to be the 2nd to last posting from the IF Art Show opening on 2/4. I love that word - penultimate. Stretch it out and say it slowly pen--ul--tih--mat. Is feels good rolling off the tongue or around in the mind's ear.

Anyway, here's a bunch more photos including an artist named Maryann Riker whose work is worth seeing, a man named Dan who is affiliated with the Art Community of Easton (ACE), named Melissa Meyer, a local dj holding up the ACE brochure, Ron Kolm in the background of one shot as well as other art aficionados from Easton and its environs.

And then there's a shot of my my photos on display. That is very "meta" indeed. I put them last because I didn't want it to be about me.

IF (International Fusionism) Art Show - Shalom Neuman - Easton PA - Part 5

Marian Silliman
Wow, fifth post in five days, with more to come. Maybe I should've put them all up at once but that would bore me and if bores me it will probably bore everyone.

What can I say that I didn't say before?
Three things about Easton that most people not from there don't know:
1. It's home to the Crayola company. There's a "Crayola Experience" downtown that I didn't have a chance to visit.
2. It's where Easton Bats come from, softball players.
Larry Fink
3. It's where Larry Holmes is from and lives. He's a big deal there and if you don't know who he is, that's what your web search engines are good for.

Here's a few more photos from the IF Art Show.
